Final Road Survey Results
YES: 50 votes
(52.6% of 95 homes included in this survey)
NO: 20 votes
Did Not Return Survey: 25

The vote failed the 60% minimum.

In April of 2022, the board sent a road survey to all members (except those on 10 Mile Road). The survey had one objective:
Do you want the board to start the process of formally investigating the road resurfacing with the appropriate township and/or country officials?

Since this project would take a lot of effort and resources, it was necessary to determine membership interest and if it met the township minimum 60% level for any future approval requirement. Since there is less than 60% membership interest in the board beginning the process with the township, the board will take no activity; there is no reason to spend resources on a project destined to fail approval.

Based upon membership interest, the board may try again in the future.

Sub 2 Homeowners
Restrictions are the rules that govern certain aspects of our community. As a bit of background, Oakwood Meadows has 100 members and is broken into 2 sections that have different restrictions. Sub 2 is made up of lots 37 to 100. The 1974 restrictions for Sub 2 were last updated in 1993.

Sub 2 member Brian Gasidlo, with the support of the board, will be visiting Sub 2 membership with a proposed change to the Sub 2 restrictions. The proposed change would be to allow alternative surfaces (Cement, Pavers) for driveways. This change is also in alignment with the Sub 1 restrictions.
Proposed Wording Change
“7. DRIVEWAYS: Access Driveways, aprons and parking areas for vehicle use on a lot shall be constructed to county codes. The wearing surface shall be of asphalt, concrete, pavers or blocks.”

A signature on the proposed restrictions that Brian will be reviewing with you will be your agreement and approval of the amendment to the restrictions, a meeting or vote is not needed.

Changes to be made to the Sub 2 restrictions require 2/3 of the membership, in good standing, to agree with the change.
Thank you for your time as we work to update our restrictions.

The current Sub 2 restrictions document can be found HERE.

To All Homeowners from Webmaster
Welcome to Oakwood Meadows' new website. I'm Robert Grand, current board member and now webmaster of our subdivision's global site. Since coming on-board in August 2018, I've been maintaining our web presence with the previous GoDaddy design tools. After much discussion, evaluation, and reviews, I was given the go-ahead to switch to WIX, a cloud-based web development platform.
WIX is a more advanced website design system enabling our site to be more visually appealing, more consistent in layout, to add more features / functionality, and to provide much better long-term maintainability.

The initial launch of our WIX-based site is intended to be as seamless as possible for the HOA membership. Thus, the overall flow is consistent with the previous website. In time, as the need or member desires warrant, I will make updates designed to improve our global presence, communications, community spirit, or similar.

Suggestions
We value your input and so have provided two methods for sharing your thoughts and ideas:
-
For this website ONLY - At the bottom of every webpage, there is a form for website suggestions ONLY. Please feel free to contact me anytime with ideas and thoughts about anything related to this website.
-
For the Board ONLY - On the CONTACTS page, there is a form to contact the Board of Directors ONLY. This is for anything else not related to this website.

Your support and opinions will help shape the future of our website. Thank you... Robert

Sub 2 Homeowners
The sub 2 restrictions were written in 1974 and last updated in 1993. Over the last several years, there have been multiple member and committee meetings regarding the updating of the restrictions. The December 13 ballot was the result of work put in by many boards and members and committees over the years on this first recommended change. The focus was to reduce the required majority from 2/3 to 51%. The driver was to test Sub 2 members for interest in voting - ability to get enough votes to provide desired changes - and for better alignment with Sub 1 and to test voting on individual content verses the entire document. History has indicated it is difficult to collect sufficient votes to make changes.
The Official Voting Results are
Total ballots received - 35
Yes votes - 18
No votes - 15
Invalid - 2 (not signed)
Ballots not returned - 29
As the Yes votes did not meet the 2/3 majority (43 yes votes) needed, the vote to update the restriction has failed and the change from 2/3 to 51% restrictions for sub 2 will not be amended.
We will continue to evaluate other restriction elements for the potential voting.

Sub 2 Homeowners
There is a Sub 2 membership meeting on October 25, 2018 from 7pm to 9pm at the Green Oak Township Hall located at 10001 Silver Lake Road. This is an opportunity for the Board to review and discuss the proposed changes with the membership to provide clarification on those changes for the Oakwood Meadows Sub 2 restrictions. The discussions will be used to further clarify the explanation of the proposed changes prior to a vote in early December.
The proposed changes are an attempt to improve the consistency with the Sub 1 restrictions and to utilize the legal ordinances of Green Oak township. We understand that the two sets of restrictions are not identical, but there are areas where we can be aligned without sacrificing the expressed direction of Sub 2 membership. These proposed changes will bring us closer together and provide better unity. Upon their acceptance, we can continue to work on future consolidation.
There are 10 proposed changes to the Sub 2 restrictions that will be reviewed. A draft copy of the Board Meeting presentation is available for viewing / downloading HERE.
